VERY COMFORTABLE.
Yes, the top is hard at first and feels like digging your skin even with jeans. But it breaks in fast. I was able to break it in on the 2nd day.
I have the Molly which is just as gorgeous as this, but their comfort is day and night. The Molly is sooo uncomfortable even after breaking it in, I'm getting rid of it soon.
The Shriver is as comfortable as the Rometty, although slightly heavier. As much as I like the pretty, the Shriver is still my favorite (by 1 point) because of its looks. I prefer combat boots over Chelsea.
I usually wear 6.5BM boots (Clarks, dansko. Timb, Frye) with regular socks and 7BM with thick winter socks. But I'm a size 6 in DMs, with thick socks.
Overall quality is the usual DM quality.
Obsessed with these boots! I'm normally a size 81/2 in women's and purchased in a size 8 women's (6 men's) as docs typically run a bit large. Ankles are a bit stiff so I recommend wearing taller socks until they are broken in completely.
These are super cute and surprisingly comfortable. 10 out of 10 from me.
Ok I know it's a bit soon to be giving a 5-star review, but I just got these, and I can't help but be happy! Now sizing was the biggest issue with my purchase. I was worried about what size to get since some reviews say too big and others say too small. So let me clear that up for you. I have size 9 (US Women's) feet, but they are also quite wide. So I usually have to size up if I want a comfortable fit. I did not need that for these. The size 9 I purchased was perfect! This is my first Doc Martens purchase, along with another pair I'll review separately and I'm glad I got them.
These boots are almost perfect, right out of the box, I don't anticipate a whole lot of break-in time, though I'll need to soften the tongue, as it's a bit stiff. The footbed is really comfortable, with lots of bounce. The platform sole is really awesome. It gives you a really big lift, without the heel being uncomfortably high. I also like these better than the Jadon's, because they have better flexibility, and don't make you look like Frankenstein stomping around.
The shape of the toe box is more feminine than the standard shoebox, as it's a bit less wide across the bridge of the foot.
